Shaker Dust Collection Systems
The shaker dust collector is primarily used on applications with larger fibrous particulates such as wood dust collection or plastic chips. A filter bag is suspended inside the dirty air plenum and dust is collected on the outside of the filter. The duct connection is down low on the hopper so as air enters the dirty air plenum the reduced velocity allows larger heavy dusts to fall out of the air stream. Smaller particles of dust accumulate on the outside of the filter.

The Shaker Dust Collector Differentiator
The cleaning method with shaker dust collectors is different from a cartridge collector or baghouse and does not use compressed air making the operational costs substantially less. When the unit is turned off the shaker filter cleaning system is initiated. A small motor will shake the hangers that support the filters violently releasing the dust off the filter bags. Dust falls off the filters and drops down the hopper into a collection drum. Changing the filter is very easy by opening the access door and removing a single filter.
Because these units are commonly used on explosive dust applications the unit can be accessorized with the following to comply with regulatory requirements for explosive dust:
- Explosion Vent
- Isolation gate
- Abort gate
- Rotary air lock
- Sprinkerhead connection
- Spark detection/suppression
- Anti-static grounded filters
The filtration efficiencies in shaker dust collectors are typically lower than cartridge filters and therefore utilize secondary after filter if air is returned back into the building. Typical applications include:
- Bin Ventilation
- Food processing
