Mist Collectors

Metalworking fluids that evaporate during machining create an aerosol or “mist” and present a health risk to employees and a liability concern to the employer if the OSHA standard of 5mg/m3 is not met.

In addition to the risks there is a reduction of employee productivity, higher facility maintenance costs and lower equipment product life expectancy so there are direct costs involved by not removing oil mist from your facility.  Allow us to evaluate your facility and determine the best method for removing oil mist.

UAS SMOG HOG

Clarcor Industrial Air, the parent of United Air Specialist (UAS), is bringing back the Smog Hog brand name with technology better than ever.  The new Peach ® coalescing filtration technology derived from the liquid oil & gas industries is now customized for oil mist applications. The newly patented filtration technology comes at a time when UAS is celebrating 50 years of solving oil mist filtration problems.

The SHM mist collector Peach ® technology is over 95% efficient at removal of .3 microns or greater and efficiency improves with continued usage.  The unit comes with an integrated blower unit equipped with a programmable touch screen for precise airflow control, filter monitoring and self-adjusting airflow control as pressure builds.

The Peach ® filtration technology utilizes three different airflow paths through the media improving coalescing of mist for increased filtration efficiency at the lowest pressure drop.  The blower and controls are integrated right in the unit for minimum space occupancy and easy system monitoring.  These units can be either floor mounted or machine mounted and outfitted with additional HEPA filtration.

UAS electrostatic precipitators (ESPs) have been cleaning the air and recycling machining fluids for companies around the world for five decades. The SmogHog model MSH is a self-contained mist collector that can be mounted directly onto machining centers or locally ducted. Mists, fumes and smoke generated from oil and water based coolants are drawn into the system and then subjected to a highly efficient multi-stage filtration process including a coalescing pre-filter and ESP collection cell(s). Clean air is then recirculated back into the plant for a cleaner, healthier work environment
